At Ferma Farms we believe there is a real opportunity to target waste side streams in industrial processes and turn it back into sustainable ingredients. If we care to continue to provide valuable products to the growing population, we need to leverage technology to improve operational efficiency at the supply chain level.

Low Value Inputs

We seek out sidestreams and wastestreams from industrial processes that contain the base building blocks we require for our process to function. This allows us to source our inputs in a cost effective and sustainable mannor. Our primary intake is a starch derived from an agrifood process. We are always working with other inputs that prove valid in our system and continue to expand our input network. 

Fermentation

By nature, fermentation is not new. Humans have been fermenting for thousands of years. At Ferma Farms we are applying a new lens to the technology and leveraging modern advancements to complete a multi-stage proprietary process.

Our process is an extremely efficient way to generate valuable ingredients. We use less land and water then traditional methods of production and have an incredibly low GHG footprint.

Andrew Hui

CTO

Andrew is a Fellow at Axial, a Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm that backs seed stage biotechnology startups. Andrew received his Bachelor degree in Biochemistry from the University of Calgary, where his research interests were focused on neurobiology and biotechnology.

Rob Harris

CEO

Rob has spent the last decade dedicating his career to building and scaling startups. With a successful exit under his belt and several hard lessons learned, Rob is excited about the future with Ferma.
